Hello friends! I have another custom watercolor to share with you today. This piece came from a client’s request to incorporate both my rose watercolors with one of her favorite scriptures, 1 John 4:4b (KJV).

… greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.

What a beautiful verse and a wonderful daily reminder of where we should place our faith.

Graphically, this watercolor is fairly simple with cursive text on the top and a cluster of roses at the base. Since roses are one of my favorite things to paint, I had some previous work that I could use as a reference for this piece. For this watercolor, I used my design for the Rose Bouquet Stationery as a guide for the flower arrangement. I started with a light wash of reds and greens over the roses and leaves. Once this layer was dry, I added a light wash of yellows and browns for the base of the white roses. Then, I built numerous layers of all colors to develop shadows, contrast, and texture.
